Morning game drive through Musabi Plains
Lunch at the Hippo Pool
Serengeti Visitor Center
Afternoon game drive

In the morning we stopped in the middle of a big herd of wildebeests.

The herd seemed confused about direction and were in fact moving in a big circle until finally they started in one directions.

Here's a nice You Tube video of the wildebeests.
Next was stopping in a large herd of zebra.

Here's a nice You Tube video of this herd.
At the water hole the zebra were nervous and kept stampeding out of the water at the slightest provocation.  This happened over and over.

Check out this You Tube video of the nervous zebra.
We stopped at the park headquarters and the visitor center.
Next was a drive to the hippo pool.  There were a lot of hippos in the hippo pool.

Click for a You Tube video of the hippos.
Big adult males were on the periphery of the raft of hippos in the deep water near the bank and in the shallows behind.

Lunch was at the picnic ground at the hippo pool.

After lunch some of the hippos got out of the water.

On the way back to camp we passed a herd of cape buffalo.
Then we passed a sizable herd of elephants at a water hole.
I like this picture of a herd of elephants huddled under a flat topped acacia tree.
We drove some distance west to our new camp, the Alan Root mobile camp. This camp was a bit more primitive than the Makoma Hill camp.

In the mobile camps unlimited beer and wine is included so there is something gained in return for less luxury.
The dining tent was set when we arrived.

Tents in this camp were similar to the previous.  Twin beds instead of a queen.  Shower and flush toilet in the back of the tent.
