June 2015
Canoe Trip on the Juniata River

Click the Map and the pictures for a larger view.

We took a 42 miles trip on the Juniata River from Newton-Hamilton down to Port Royal.

We assembled at Juniata River Advantures which we used for a canoe and shuttle.

Bill Baldwin, Bill Yacovissi, Bob Alspaugh, Mike Reilly, and Joe Murphy set off on our annual June canoe trip.

It was a very nice day and the water was high which gave us a nice current for paddling.

Was saw a bald eagle along the river.

Joe paddled the kayak which I'm happy about as I'm not sure I could have paddled the 22 miles to camp.

We stopped for lunch along the river.  The usual cheese sandwitches.

Back on the river Bill and Bill take a break.

We camped at Waterside Campgound along the river.

We rented a couple of RV sites so we were a little out of place in our tents but it was a nice and comfortable place to camp.

Bill pitched his tent on the flats along the river.

The rest of us stayed on the shelf where the RVs were.

There was a beautiful sunset.

Mike has captured a nice arty picture of the setting sun light on the leaves.

Next day was cloudy and blustery but no rain so it was cool paddling to the end.

Take out at Juniata River Adventures.
