Hike To The Top Of Santa Fe Baldy

The hike up Santa Fe Baldy starts near the Ski Santa Fe Ski Resort.  The hike is 14 miles long and involves 2,500 feet of elevation gain. Click the map and pictures for a larger view.

Santa Fe Baldy, at the southern end of the Sangre de Christo Range, is the highest point in the cluster of mountains above the city of Santa Fe, New Mexico. It is situated within the Pecos Wildnerness section of the Santa Fe National Forest. You hike 6 miles in before you even see the mountain.
	The hike continues up to a saddle which is out of the picture above to the right.  From there you look up at the rounded peak you see in the picture above.
The final push up the slope above tree line is very steep and rugged.  For some reason I didn't take a picture of the skee field close up.
	As you get closer to the summit slopes that look flat from a distance are revealed to be not flat at all.

	Finally the summit comes into view.  The high point is actually the third peak along the ridge so it gets frustrating to climb each peak only to see a higher one behind it.
